Monday and Wednesday
1:10-2:40 — H80

The text for this class is Cohen, Varat & Amar, Constitutional Law: Cases and Materials (12th edition 2005).  You do not need to purchase the Supplement for this book.

While you are welcome to also use the Examples and Explanations book that Professor Alan Ides and I wrote that deals with Constitutional Law I, it is not required reading for this class.  However, if you do decide to use the E & E book, be sure to use it in addition to -- and not in place of -- the Cohen, Varat & Amar casebook.  The casebook reading is absolutely indispensable and will be the basis for class discussion and for the questions that are asked in class.

For the first week of class, please read Cohen, Varat & Amar, pages 1-37.  The first sixteen pages consist of the text of the Constitution; even if you've read the document before, be sure to read through it again.

A seating chart will be distributed at the first class.  The seats that students take at this class will then be their assigned seats for the balance of the semester, unless you arrange with me to make a change.
